Oscar Winner Steve McQueen "12 Years a Slave" Did Not Forget

Steve McQueen, the director 12 Years a Slave is a hero in my eyes. Just before he started to speak, I said to Michael, in tears, “I hope he mentions slavery still exists today . . . but I doubt it.”

However, in his Oscar for Best Picture acceptance speech, Mr. McQueen dedicated the award to "everyone who has endured slavery and the 21 million still enslaved today. Everyone deserves not just to survive but to live," he says. "This is the most important legacy of Solomon Northup." (This is the true story of Mr. Northup).

My heart was pounding so hard. I could not stop crying for all those suffering at this very moment at the hands of traffickers. I thank God that Mr. McQueen brought attention to heinous ongoing worldwide crime to an international viewing audience of millions.

Can You Imagine???

Can you imagine savages holding you their prisoner brutally raping you daily? Then, you are forced to do disgusting things with your mouth and your body with perverted strangers. Your captors hit you repeatedly with their fist, chains, whips, and hangers, force you to eat garbage, piss on you, spit into your mouth, and turn you into a heroin addict and worse? Have you digested this? Now imagine it is your child.

Super Bowl Sunday - A Human Traffickers Perfect Cover

Forbes.com
Super Bowl XLVIII and Human Trafficking: An Outdoor Campaign Connects the Two

“Throughout Super Bowl Week a massive outdoor advertising campaign will be taking place in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area aimed at raising awareness about the domestic human trafficking crisis. As part of partnership between the Polaris Project and Clear Channel Outdoor, digital spots will appear on the stretch from Herald Square to Times Square that’s been dubbed “Super Bowl Alley.” In addition, billboards throughout the region will promote awareness, putting all too human faces on the business of human trafficking. The images in the campaign are simple black and white photos of the victims of this modern slavery epidemic. The messaging is direct. For example : “Human Trafficking was reported in all 50 states last year.”

Super Bowl and Human Trafficking

“Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to descend on New Jersey for the Feb. 2 football game. Many believe the state's sprawling highway system, proximity to New York City and diverse population make it an attractive base of operations for traffickers.
"New Jersey has a huge trafficking problem," said U.S. Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., who is co-chairman of the House anti-human trafficking caucus. "One Super Bowl after another after another has shown itself to be one of the largest events in the world where the cruelty of human trafficking goes on for several weeks." (Associated Press)

Fight to bring an end human trafficking and severely punish traffickers

PLEASE LET'S NOT FORGET VICTIMS

It is very difficult for victims of human traffickers to believe God exists or that anyone will ever be able to find them.

For them, there is no escape. Only moments of unimaginable torture. Please let's not forget them -

NO HOLIDAYS FOR VICTIMS

There are no holidays for human trafficking victims. No Hanukkah, no Hindu festivals, no New Year’s Day, and no presents under the Christmas tree.

No. For the victim only more torture, beatings, rapes, and every other manner of humiliating and painful atrocities exist.

Children as young as two, teens, and women, and yes, even men, captured and sold every thirty seconds. Traffickers lurk in malls, near schools, anywhere and everywhere, tricking and luring their victims, or simply snatching them off the street.

Don’t assume you know what they look like. They hide in plain sight.

Please don’t forget these helpless victims. Please spread awareness. Please share any and everything you can from this site and others. May God forgive us, may the powers that be forgive us, if we are negligent in fighting for these powerless captives held in chains by these brutal monsters.

386 CHILDREN RESCUED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY BUST

By Daniella Silva, NBC News

“Nearly 400 children have been rescued and 348 adults arrested following an expansive and “extraordinary” international child pornography investigation, Canadian police announced Thursday.

The three-year project, named Project Spade, began when undercover officers with the Toronto Police Service Child Exploitation service made contact with a Toronto man allegedly sharing “very graphic images” of child sexual abuse in Oct. 2010, Toronto Police Service Chief William Blair said at a press conference on Thursday.”

CHILDREN DON'T WAKE UP ONE DAY AND SAY "MOMMY, I WANT TO BE A PROSTITUTE"

PLEASE READ BELOW

Start educating your children while they are young. Fear is not always a bad thing. This kind of fear may very well save your child’s life one day.

“Half of the slaves in the world today are minors. Federal law in the U.S. says that anyone under 18 used for sex in exchange for anything of value is legally a victim of human trafficking. That “thing of value” might be money, a sandwich, clothing, or a place to spend the night

Some young people are more at risk, like runaways and throwaways, but anyone can become a victim. Traffickers are going into schools, malls, theatres, game arcades, playgrounds – anywhere youths hang out – to find victims. Some are kidnapped. Sometimes people they know and trust are actually there to sell them and threaten their families if they tell. Sometimes their own family members sell them.”  (Source: bethejam.org)
